Website Ranking Reports

Knowing how well your web site places in the search engines is crucial to maintaining an effective marketing campaign. Each Ranking Report order includes two reports. Both help to easily determine your website's true position on the web. See samples of each report below. At the bottom of this page you will find a glossary of terms used in the reports.

Quick Reference Terms

Search Engine - The name of the search engine.

Search Phrase - The search phrase for which the search engine was queried.

Rank - The ordinal position (1=best) of the first URL from your Web site that appeared in the listings returned by the search engine, if any, for the particular search phrase. Most search engines return 10 listings per page, so if your Web site appeared in position 3 on page 4, the rank would be 33 (10 listings X 3 pages, plus 3 listings on the 4th page). URL's from your web pages may appear multiple times in the listings.

Change - The change in Rank value from the previous search, if any. Positive values indicate improvement. Negative values indicate that the listing has moved down. There will always be up and down movement in your keyword rankings as new sites are added to the search engines and others are dropped.

Page - Search engines return pages of results, typically containing 10 or more listings per page. This value is the number of the first page on which one of your URL's was listed.

Position - The ordinal position of your URL on the first page that listed it. This is different than the rank value, which is the overall position of your page within the entire set of listings returned by the search engine.

URL - The address of the Web page where the search result was found.
